Super Smash Bros. Melee items

Like the original Super Smash Bros., Melee offers a ton of items. This time, there's not any items that are completely useless! From explosives to swords to guns to food to healing items, Super Smash Bros. Melee has everything covered.

Name

Description

Barrel Cannon

Barrel Cannons are items that will or will not affect the outcome of a match, most likely the latter. They're heavy, and when a player throws one, it'll roll on the ground. If another player enters the cannon, they'll be shot out in the direction of the arrow.

Beam Sword

The Beam Sword is a favorite of many players from the original Super Smash Bros. It's a glowing purple sword that has a long range and a very powerful attack.

Bomb-Omb

Bomb-Ombs are very powerful explosive items. They can send opponents flying when they hit them, but if the person holding them doesn't hurry up, they'll explode on the user.

Bunny Hood

Bunny Hoods make the game a lot more fun an interesting. Getting one will give the player the ability to run much, much faster. They also will jump much, much higher.

Cloaking Device

Cloaking Devices are very good items. Getting one will turn a player invisible for a little bit of time. While invisible, a player cannot be damaged, although he or she can be hit and knocked off.

Fan

The worst kind of cuts are paper cuts, and the Fan loves to dish those out at players. The Fan is just what it sounds like - a paper fan. It's relatively weak and has no range.

Fire Flower

Time to go old school once more. The Fire Flower, unfortunately, does not give a player the ability to hurl balls of fire. At least it gives the next best thing: A stream of fire to badly damage opponents!

Flipper

The Flipper is a little bit of a useless item. It's a spinner basically - using one will make it float in the air. Whoever touches it takes minor damage and causes it to start spinning.

Food

Food is a new item to Super Smash Bros. Melee. There's many different types of food found during battle. Food will heal a player, although the power of it is very, very minimal.

Freezie

Freezies will take a player way, way back to the original Mario Bros. game. Freezies are thrown at opponents. When hit with one, a player is shot up into the air as a frozen icicle.

Green Shells

Well, there's no Koopa Troopas, just their shells! Green Shells can be thrown by players along the ground and in the air at other players. They roll off edges.

Hammer

The Hammer is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Plus, it has reference to Mario when he was known as Jumpman. A player will swing the hammer in a rage, heavily damaging opponents.

Heart Container

The Heart Container is the most powerful healing item found in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It restores 100% of a player's damage. Heart Container float down when they appear.

Home Run Bat

The Home Run Bat might be the strongest item in the game. It's power may only be matched by the Hammer. Using one correctly will send an opponent off the screen instantly.

Lip's Stick

Lip's Stick may be the most unique item in the game. It's simply a flower to smack opponents with. However, when they are hit, they get a flower planted on them which inflicts damage.

Maxim Tomato

The Maxim Tomato makes it's return from the original Super Smash Bros. game. Except this time it doesn't heal as much! Using one of these will let a player recover by 50%.

Metal Box

The Metal Box is straight from Super Mario 64. Getting one will turn a player into solid metal. A player can't be thrown or hit nearly as far, but their recovery is also way lowered.

Motion-Sensor Bomb

Motion-Sensor Bombs are just like Bomb-Ombs, except they don't walk around and don't explode if a player throws one at another. These bombs are thrown at the ground and send opponents flying when someone walks over it.

Mr. Saturn

Earthbound, anyone? Mr. Saturns are different from the rest of the items. Well, kind of. They walk along on the ground. A player can throw one at his or her opponents. They do low, low damage.

Parasol

The Parasol is a pretty useless item. All it does is slow down a player when he or she jumps. It can also be used to attack opponents, but it's very weak and does minor damage.

Party Ball

Party Balls are very heavy items. Throwing one will cause it to float in the air. A few seconds later, a Party Ball will release a bunch of items. If a player hits another player with a Party Ball, it will inflict damage.

Poison Mushroom

Well, this was a true shocker - a reference to Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels. Poison Mushrooms are a bit darker than Super Mushrooms and make players tiny - very venerable to attacks.

Poke Ball

Poke Balls are old favorites from the original Super Smash Bros. game. Throwing one will unleash a different Pokemon, of which there are many in Super Smash Bros. Melee..

Ray Gun

The Ray Gun is an old favorite from the previous game. With it, a player can shoot energy blasts at other players! The Ray Gun has limited ammo with only 16 shots!

Red Shells

Red Shells are just like Green Shells. They can also be thrown in the air at opponents and they will roll on the ground. However, Red Shells follow players along on the ground.

Screw Attack

The Screw Attack isn't a powerful item, but it can be very useful. Hitting opponents with one will cause them to spin up in the air, and when they fall, they'll be vulnerable to attack.

Starman

More Mario references! The Starman is as classic as it gets. Getting one will make a player invincible for a short amount of time. However, if a player goes off the stage, they'll still lose a life.

Star Rod

The Star Rod is a very powerful weapon featured in the Kirby series, and it's also a strong weapon in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Use it to smack other opponents or send a star at them!

Super Mushroom

Super Mushrooms are what they are and have been through the entire Mario series. They make players temporarily bigger, which makes a player's defense sky rocket.

Super Scope

Well, a lot of people never got the opportunity to own or use one of these, but now everyone can. The Super Scope will send a barrage of bullets at an enemy, or it can be charged up to unleash a massive shot.

Warp Star

Warp Stars are the backbone of the Kirby series, and they are also very, very powerful items in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Using one will make a player shoot to the top of the screen and come hurling down, smacking all players silly if they hit them.
