Mario Legacy is an avid
fan site dedicated to the Super
Mario series. We offer a ton of
info, but unlike other sites, we
also offer a lot of media. We
have our own custom Wallpapers,
as well as our highly regarded
Comic Series and much more. We're
also different in the idea that
the amount of visits do not
matter to us, but instead, the
site itself and the community
are more important.
Mario Legacy was started
on July 22, 2006
and has continued to grow since
then. We started off on a blank
slate - no content, no media, no
nothing. Our first month or so
wasn't so bad, we had a good
amount of content added by then.
We launched with Version 1,
which was a gray, blue, and
green mix.
Soon after, the first Message
Board was added. It's still up
today and hasn't had any
downtime at all. It grew slowly
at first, but it has had its
spurts since then. The months
came going by, and by about or 4
month of existence, a major
change came.
Elemental Desires hit the scene.
"Elemental Desires" is actually
a name of Version 2. It was a
major step up from Version 1,
with a new look that is still
our most popular today.
Elemental Desires saw a nice
growth of content, but it didn't
bring us to the level where we
hoped we'd be. The Message Board
at this time saw it's most
growth, expanding over 175
members.
Elemental Desires saw the
addition of a few major things:
The Mario Encyclopedia, our own
Comic Series, Wallpapers, and
Character Profiles. It's true,
each section really hasn't been
worked on, but we started it
with the idea of a project that
will be done later on. The Comic
Series was great for the site,
because it's different than
other comics: It uses Mario
sprites, but each sprite is a
member of our Message Board.
It's a great way to interact
with our biggest fans and
supporters.
The biggest thing that we
started was the Wii Drive 2006.
In this, we collected donations
for kids at a hospital. Well, it
didn't go so well - we didn't
get a whole lot. It's because at
the time, we were still a new
and small site. We're not
entirely sure if the Wii Drive
will be back in 2007, we'll just
have to wait and see.
A new addition to the duet of
sites came as well:
Smrpgsequel.com. It's a site
dedicated to getting a true
sequel to Super Mario RPG. It
was put up at this time, but no
real work was done when some
should have been. Unfortunately,
this idea and cause has not
really gone well.
Our first real problem hit
towards the end of Elemental
Desires. Well, actually, it
wasn't towards the end of it,
but it more or less caused it to
be the end of it. The short
version is that we were hacked.
Instead of taking it the wrong
way, most of us took it as a
positive idea: We had arrived
becoming big enough to get
recognition.
The Serenade of
Light redesign came. It was a heavy
dosage of Super Mario Bros. 3,
similar yet different from
Elemental Desires. The only real
problem is that the site looks
very similar to other sites,
which it wasn't meant to be!
With the colors, it just
happened to be that way.
Right now, we're currently in
Serenade of Light. We continue
to add content, and we're on a
steady fan base. We hope that we
will soon reach our ultimate
goal and become one of the
largest Mario sites out there, a
challenge that will be
difficult. |
