Super Smash Bros. Melee stages

There's so many stages in Super Smash Bros. Melee, many of which represent a character's world or game. The stages can be separated into 4 main categories. Here's a list of them all!

 
Main Stages
Name Description How To Unlock
DK Island: Jungle Japes

Home to Donkey Kong. A simple stage, but a little bit short. The rapids waterfalls are home to the Klaptraps, which may try to snatch on to a character.

DK Island: Kongo Jungle

Another home to Donkey Kong. This stage is like Jungle Japes, but is more vertical than horizontal. A floating barrel and Klaptraps are found here.

Dream Land: Fountain of Dreams

Home to Kirby. This stage is very basic and very, very simple. It's a little too short and is one of the nicest looking stages.

Dream Land: Green Greens

Home to Kirby. The famous tree Whispy Woods makes an appearance, blowing players off. There's a few blocks and bomb blocks to avoid. This stage is medium size.

Eagleland: Onett

Home to Ness. This stage is in the Earthbound neighborhood. Watch out for the awnings collapsing and the drive by cars.

F-Zero Grand Prix: Mute City

Home to Captain Falcon. This stage is large in terms of the boundary lines, the the real fighting room is limited by the small floating platform.

Hyrule: Temple

Home to Link, Young Link, Zelda, and Gannondorf. This is the largest and most spacious stage in the game. There's no real obstacle or special feature, it's just a great stage for battle.

Infinite Glacier: Icicle Mountain

Home to the Ice Climbers. This stage is very unique with it's frosty polar bears and other minor creatures. Oh yeah, it's constantly moving up and down as well.

Kanto: Pokemon Stadium

Home to Pikachu, Pichu, Mewtwo, and Jigglypuff. This stage changes themes often and is most of the time flat. It's not that big in size either.

Lylat System: Corneria

Home to Fox and Falco. This stage is simply a side view of the Great Fox. It's relatively large and Arwings will sometimes shoot at the players.

Lylat System: Venom

Home to Fox and Falco. This stage is like Corneria, except it's a front view of the Great Fox. Arwings come and go, and this stage is much smaller.

Mushroom Kingdom

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. This stage has blocks and item boxes like the original Super Mario Bros. This stage is relatively medium in size.

Mushroom Kingdom: Princess Peach's Castle

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. This stage takes place on Peach's Castle. It's relatively small to medium in size. Sometimes, Bullet Bills explode.

Mushroom Kingdom: Rainbow Ride

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. This stage takes place on a ship from Super Mario 64. The level is constantly moving and is relatively small in size.

Planet Zebes: Brinstar

Home to Samus Aran. This stage is relatively small and is very dangerous. The yellowish liquid, most likely acid, will damage players.

Termina: Great Bay

Home to Link, Young Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. This stage takes place in Termina, the land from Majora's Mask. This stage is relatively small in size.

Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Island

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. This stage is based on Super Mario World and is relatively small. The blocks don't get destroyed, but they do collapse.

Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Story

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. Shy Guys fly buy leaving food for health, and clouds sometimes appear. This stage is very small.

Secret Stages
Name Description.

How To Unlock
Eagleland: Fourside

Home to Ness. This stage is in the city. There are different size skyscrapers. This stage is relatively medium in size.

Play 100 Vs. Matches
F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue

Home to Captain Falcon. This stage starts with the characters being on the Big Blue. Meanwhile, the Big Blue is hurling down the road at high speeds.

Play 150 Vs. Matches
Kanto Skies: Poke Floats

Home to Pikachu, Pichu, Mewtwo, and Jigglypuff. This stage moves upwards on different floats of Pokemon. It's also very small.

Play 200 Vs. Matches
Mushroom Kingdom II

Home to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Dr. Mario, and Bowser. This stage takes the theme of Super Mario Bros. 2 and is relatively small. Birgo/Pidget are found here.

Win Birdo or Pidget trophy
Planet Zebes: Brinstar Depths

Home to Samus Aran. This stage rotates, only because Krain constantly turns it. It's not very big in size.

Past Stages

Name Description.

How To Unlock
Past Stages: Dream Land

This stage is from the original Super Smash Bros. and is home to Kirby. This stage features Whispy Woods and is relatively small.

Complete Target Test will all characters
Past Stages: Kongo Jungle

Another stage from Super Smash Bros. This stage is home to Donkey Kong and is very small. There's also a rotating barrel beneath it.

Clear 15 Minute Melee with character of choice
Past Stages: Yoshi's Island

This stage is also from Super Smash Bros. and is home to Yoshi. This stage is another small one, and clouds appear on the sides sometimes.

Hit Sandbag at least 1323 feet

 

Special Stages

How To Unlock
Special Stages: Battlefield

This stage is one of the most simplest stages in the game. It's very flat and there's 3 platforms to use. It's also medium in size.

Complete All-Star mode with character of choice
Special Stages: Final Destination

This is the simplest stage in the game. Completely flat, great for an all out battle. It's medium in size and there's no obstacles.

Clear all Event Matches
Superflat World: Flat Zone

Home to Game & Watch. This stage is extremely small in size. There's also a few oil spills, so be sure not to slip!
